B - reporting

Slept well in the carpark! After breakfast got some GPS maps of Mongolia from a fellow guest who is off today, then prepared to visit Ulaan Baator.

We took the bus downtown and managed to get off at the right place - though as this was Sukhbaator Square, a huge tourist destination, we don't get credit for our sense of direction! Crossing the road was an adventure in itself, as cars seem to ignore anything on foot and pedestrians cross four lane roads one lane at a time, calmly waiting while traffic whizzes inches past their feet. We were not quite so calm...but survived. The pedestrian lights (red or green/white man) here are red or green horsemen!

It was quite a grey, cloudy day, very windy with lots of dust in the air. We weren't in a museum-y frame of mind (and had forgot to put the battery in the camera!) so went to have lunch - delicious goat kebab. After a quick visit to the Post Office and foiling an inept pickpocket, we caught the bus back to the Oasis for dinner & beers, chatting to other guests.
