G - Reporting

Packed up fairly late and drove around the lake going south west to the next lake we wanted to camp by driving up and over a pass with great views of distant snow capped mountains, and then descending across a huge plan to the small town of Bohmoron,

We wanted to get gas here which was easier said than done 1st find the gas station after a bit of wandering around saying “benzin’ we got pointed in the right direction but once we found it there was no one around so back into the town to find the guy who operated the place, again asking around we found the gas station owner who I drove over to the gas station, he then unlocked the place handed me the nozzle through the chain link fence and then preceded to hand pump the gas, quite a lot for work for 33 liters!

We then continued to the next town which was just 6Km away and from there the lake which was easier said than done as we got lost as the road/track we where following just ended and we had to double back ending up taking a huge detour and our biggest river crossing to date (about 2 ½ ft) and in the end not getting to the lake but we did find the other town and it only took 4 hours getting lost in Mongolia is serious business!

So  just before the pass to Tsagaannuur the next big town, we camped in what we thought was the middle over nowhere turned out to be right next to the road so after sitting down for about 10 minutes 2 guys stopped on a bike and came over we gave them a beer and tried to show them out route and the truck it was all a bit awkward and after looking at their bike and lots of so what do we try and say/sign monuments they eventually left and we moved on camping up a hill and well out of sight of all roads.

A Gas station at its most basic

Just to the left of the guy you can see the hand crank!

Nearby rock formations very Utah.

The lake we didn't get to!

Based on availability one of Mongolia's basic food groups.
