G – Reporting

While walking the day before we saw the volcano mentioned in the park leaflet so after packing up we drove the 5km or so to it and climbed up the edge of the caldera and view of the surrounding lava field both being quite impressive and my 1st look at a volcano close up, after we drove along the north shore of the lake on a very hot and sunny day and finding a quite part of the lake shore dived in and had a long overdue wash and hair wash which was lovely.
The rest of the day was spent driving through the beautiful Mongolia countryside about the time we decided to camp we found ourselves heading up a pass so we decided to cross it 1st and then camp so up we drove and up and up topping out around 8320 ft, followed by a pretty decent into a tree lined valley looking more like Canada than Mongolia, seeing the river about a 1km off to the right we drove over and found a nice place to camp, just as we where setting up two Mongolia’s arrived on horseback which would have been nice if they weren’t both drunk, one got very insistent about Bridget riding his horse and really would not take no for an answer while all the time miming drinking!, so in the proud tradition of the empire I made some tea and hoping they might just get bored as we had no booze and leave, but with no sign of that happening we just packed up waved and buggered off another 10k down the valley finding camping in a small hanging valley out of sight of the road, interesting thing was if this had happened 3 or 4 weeks ago it would have really freaked me out now just disappointed that they where arseholes.
