Woke by the river for out 1st Morning in Mongolia, as we had headed west on a side road to camp we decided to continue to see the Amarbayasgalant Monastery which apparently is one of the top 3 or 4 depending on which guide book you read!

Getting there involved our 1st taste of Mongolian roads and lets just say I'm glad we had a 4x4 but we did pass a few cars driven by some very brave souls! but the bad road was worth it as the Monastery was really beautiful and interesting and at times funny watching the little monks yawning their way through their lessons and getting told off :-)

After visiting the monastery we walked up the hill behind to the huge Buddha statue coupled with a stunning view across the valley below, then it was back down the bumpy dirt road and on to Ulaanbaatar 230km away, we arrived in UB at about 6 but it then took over an hour to get across the city as the traffic and the drivers where crazy finally arriving at the Oasis guest house with nerves a little frazzled at about 7:30, the frayed nerves where twanged once more when we where met with a sign saying the oasis closed at 6:30 and what we thought was locked gate, but after a brief panic it was a false alarm and we checked in and enjoyed a nice hot shower followed by a relaxing beverage ;-)
