The Journey so far.....

B - reporting

We broke camp early (probably consumed porridge again) and headed towards the southern part of the park where the enormous tablelands tower, treeless and eerie. It's either too steep or geologically too weird* for plants to grow up the sides, so rocks completely dominate the landscape. We went for a short hike so we could feel like Curiosity.*

We had a ways to go so headed south back down to Port Au Basques and the ferry to Nova Scotia. Vast tracts of Newfoundland are famously stunning, but not this bloodly long straight road. However Port Au Basques was really pretty, with the brightly-coloured houses perched on grass-covered granite, surrounded by twinkling blue sea.

After a perfectly adequate family diner dinner, we drove to the Ferry where we parked up, boarded by about 9pm and managed to find a couple of comfy, quiet seats for the overnight trip to Nova Scotia.

* well, they used to be part of the earth's magma

* in retrospect...this is written after the successful Mars landing
