G - reporting
1st full day in Ottawa so headed up to parliament hill with the plan of going on a tour of parliament and ended up getting way-laid by the changing of the guard, I'm not normally one for pomp and ceremony but my adopted county does it very well with at least a hundred soldiers in full ceremonial red tunics and bearskin hats plus a marching bad with half a dozen bagpipers in kilts it was all rather good apart from the poor sod who passed out in the heat and had to helped off by medics looking very embarrassed.
After we grabbed a ticket for the afternoon tour of parliament and made our way over to the National art gallery which was very good apart from some experimental music thing that was going on that involved people wandering around for about 1/2 an hour with trumpets making noises like strangled raccoons!
Then it was onto the Parliament for the full and free tour which was top watching the media scrum on the news in parliament will never be the same again :-)
In the evening we went for BBQ and instead of going to see the Light show on parliament hill we just waddled back to our room.
