B - reporting

Had pb and jam (jelly, if you will) on toast this morning. Yum! Then loaded up Swiss and headed for Ottawa!*

Highway driving isn't the most exciting, but it was interesting to see the Quebec scenery. There are way more deciduous trees than we are accustomed to in BC. We passed several farms, and I can report that Canadian haybales are identical to English ones.

We arrived in Ottawa about 5-ish, and after checking in went for a walk. We were amazed and delighted to find that we are about 5 blocks from Parliament Hill!* It was quite thrilling to be so close to the heart of our democracy**.

There is a Busker's Festival happening so we wondered past a few magicians haranguing passers by then discovered Baywater Market, which is full of pubs, restaurants and people happily drinking in the sun. Naturally, we joined them.

* original plan was Quebec - Montreal - Ottawa - Toronto but finances dictated a zig-zaggier route
** Harper's Con gov't notwithstanding

Parliament.
