We excitedly went to the dining room for our complimentary breakfast: one of us had museli, the other cinnamon toast. Delicious. Then we headed out into the bright sunny day for the 3km walk to the Old Town.

It was very interesting walking though Quebec, as the architecture seemed to be much more European than North American. The city is quite steep, but we eventually reached the top and a long shop-lined street, full of funky stores*, resto-pubs and coffee shops.

We went to the beautiful Notre Dame Cathederal, and strolled around the Old Town admiring the stone buildings and general beauty of the place. The lower Old Town is almost perfectly preserved, so much so that it is shiny and clean and rather like a theme park, but still very interesting.

We had a take-out lunch (falafels) in the Plains of Abraham park, then explored the park with its magnificent views over the river and town. Then had a quick cruise across the river (on the ferry) for yet more fantastic views.

We walked back to the hotel via a v nice pub, and had delicious foods from the local supermarket deli in our room. Pate, cheeses, bread...simple but very tasty.

*even Fluevogs! I pressed my nose to the window but luckily the shop was not yet open
