B - reporting

Woke early - really must remember to switch off my alarm!  We had breakfast in the 18th Century hall, a large, high-ceilinged room intricately hand painted with vines, flowers and geometric designs, with carved beams. It was a Jewish merchant's house, now full of hungry people eating french toast and cupcakes...very nice!

We then discovered there was no room at the inn for us tonight, so we had to find another hotel. This was soon done, and we wondered towards the bazaar, where we had heard one could change money on the black market as the bank rates are crap. But how do we find a black market moneychanger...by walking past a carpet shop! 'need money?' 'why yes!' and we are now millionaires.

The morning was spent sightseeing and having tea and saucers of delicious sweet snacks. Bukhara is beautiful, but so full of tourists, and so perfectly preserved, that it does feel a bit like being in an amusement park.

After a bit of bargaining we headed back for beers, then tonight fed a tiny ginger cat at the pool-side restaurant. (Last night we fed ducks...) We then met Morgan and Ned for wine tasting. We had about 8 wines to sample, (it's a hard life), the experience really interesting but to my tastes Uzbek wine is very sweet. Finished off the evening with a beer nightcap (yes, a very hard life...).

Breakfast room and a half!

Loads of money!

Tea vicar!

Beautiful Bukhara

Odd colour wine
