The Journey so far.....

October 1st

Very much a travel day getting away from the hotel quite late at 10 as we need to change some money we started the 450Km* drive to Bukhara, it was long day but for the 1st half at least the scenery threw up some surprises quickly changing early on into desert which we were expecting just not so soon followed by some interesting small mountain ranges.

The road went from great to awful as they do in this part of the world and we had to stop at 3 checkpoints along the way which again par for the course round here.

Arrived in town at around 6 picked up a really, really nice B&B with wifi, sat TV (nice to have some news after 3 months!) and a stunningly decorated room, followed by dinner in the main square which had ducks and cats which rather successfully persuaded diners to feed them, a good if tiring day.

*This might sound much in Europe/North America but when your top speed is limited to 40-50kph in a lot of places it’s a long way!
