G – Reporting

Woke up late to a another beautiful sunny day in leafy Almaty, after an odd breakfast of cheese and salami (the fridge battery was about to go flat!) we wandered across the city to the Kyrgyzstan consulate to hopefully pick up our visas, arriving at 11 after stopping for more coffee in tiny plastic cups we were buzzed in and 2 minutes latter we were back out with our visa, in the words of Col. Hannibal Smith “I love it when a plan comes together” :)

This left us with most of the day for stress free sightseeing so using the lonely planet walking tour as a rough guide we strolled the leafy street and squares of Almaty stopping for drinks and then a lunch at a couple of bar/restaurants both with nice patios.

We returned to the hotel for a siesta before heading out for curry night at the Shakespeare Pub, which really didn’t disappoint, my Chicken Rogan Josh was quite possibly the best curry I’ve had outside the UK and the fact it also came with salad, chapattis and 2 free pints didn’t exactly hurt its case, I heard no complaints as B tucked into her Peanut chicken curry, plus yet again we were on a patio and had a nice chat with William the landlord a lovely end to our stay in Almaty
