B - reporting

We had an even more delicious breakfast this morning as, by a communication error, we ended up with 3 dishes each! Semolina porridge, cheese and ham toastie and also a raisin-stuffed pastry with sour cream. Mmmmm.

Sustenated, we packed and drove into Barnaul for some more sightseeing. We hit the market (anyone need a fur hat?) then went on a quest for the River Ob, which after walking for ages we found just behind the market. It's a wide, fast-flowing grey river with, today, a police cruiser whizzing downstream, sideways! For training, we think.

We then checked into the Hotel Barnaul. The flashness of the hotel ended at the reception desk. Our room was fine, but strangely the toilet was literally in the shower, which was basically a large tiled room, with a drain in the floor, and a loo and sink!

When updating our blog in the lobby where there was free wi fi, G ran into some Norwegian guys in the Mongol Rally who were looking for a cup of tea. They needed Mongolian currency, and we hadn't been able to get rid of ours, so it was a result! We swapped our mongolian tugrigs for kazak tenges...more colourful notes, but these didn't smell of mutton. (Mongolia is beautiful, but seeemingly everything has a faint aroma of mutton...)

Then we headed out for a Mexican restaraunt to celebrate our last night in Siberia. It was a lot warmer this evening, and we even saw the sky! The meal was great, a mixture of local and Mexican cusisne. We followed salmon and caviare with fajitas and burritos, and of course beer.

The driver of this bought my Mongol Money - yay!
